Development of the cemented carbide

Since Karl Schroter developed WC-Co cemented carbide by powder metallurgy in 1923, and the Krupp Company began mass production of the WC-Co cemented carbide named "WIDIA" in 1926, the cemented carbide has emerged in the world. After more than 80 years of development, the production technology, output and application scope of the cemented carbide have been greatly expanded, so are the scale and variety. Some global well-known multinational production and management companies have been formed, such as Sandvik Group in Sweden, Kenna Metal Corporation in America, Iscar in Israel, Mitsubishi Mathematics and Toshiba Tungalloy in Japan, and Zhuzhou Changjiang Carbide Tools in China. At present, the output value of the world's cemented carbide industry has reached more than 10 billion US dollars, and the production and sales volume is about 38,000 tons accounting for 60% of the world's tungsten consumption.
